Answer: For some of the features to display you need to enable “Advanced site config” in “Site Configuration”. If you do this you will see the plugin link under “Developer Tools”.

If you have a website that has access to members only and you want to add and manage the users yourself via admin, you can disable user registration inf Joomla 2.5 by following this simple process.

1. Log into the backend (administrator area)

2. Click on “User Manager” > Options (Icon on the top right) > Component > Allow User Registration > SELECT “No”

3. Save

Now if you go to the front end you will see that the option for “Don’t have an account?” from the log-in page and log-in module in Joomla has been removed.

You will still be able to add users via the backend.

Users can access the “Results” page and can see the results of all your polls by selecting the correct poll from the drop down box on the “Results” Page.

If you have a long question the drop down box cut’s the question and you can read the whole question of the poll.

To increase the size of the Poll drop down in the Poll’s “Results page…do the following

1. Go to /components/com_poll/views/poll/view.html.php
2. Make a backup of the file
3. Change the width value in the below code from 200px to whatever you want

In some cases the font becomes to bif for the design so you need to limit the max font size.

Find the following file within the Beez template: md_stylechanger.js

Look for the following code snippet:
function changeFontSize(sizeDifference) {
currentFontSize = parseInt(currentFontSize, 10) + parseInt(sizeDifference * 5, 10);
if (currentFontSize > 180) {
currentFontSize = 180;
} else if (currentFontSize < 60) {
currentFontSize = 60;

Change both the values to a lower number like 160. You are now setting the max size.

If you wanted to limit users to the smallest size then edit the two values below:

} else if (currentFontSize < 60) {
currentFontSize = 60;

Solution: Go to Extension Manager > Database > click the fix button / icon (on the right). This will attempt to fix any database issues.

After the fix I got the following message:

Database table structure is up to date.

Database schema version (in #__schemas): 2.5.4-2012-03-19.
Update version (in #__extensions): 2.5.4.
Database driver: mysqli.
63 database changes were checked successfully.
23 database changes did not alter table structure and were skipped.

If you want to remove the default value when users click in the text box or text area then add the following code to the fields “Additional attributes” section on the right when you select to edit the field.

Replace “your_default_value” with your default value text.

I’ve worked with the BF Survey support team and disabled all modules and plugins to try and get it to work, but none of it seems to be the problem.

I then contacted the excellent support team at Artisteer and they helped to identify the problem which gave me this reply:

We have analyzed the issue, it turned out to be related to the INPUT tag written in capital letters.

<INPUT id=’cs_fn’ name=’cs_fn’ size=’65′ MAXLENGTH=255>

Such capitalized tags are actually not expected because this is not a valid xhtml.

I then edited the following file:
/components/com_bfsurvey_pro/views/onepage/tmpl/default.php

I replace all the <INPUT … tags with <input and everything works as it should.

I solved this by enabling PHP Extension: php_curl
